The staff at the Husavik Academic Center have developed new educational materials as part of the NICHE 2 project. The materials cover topics such as the circular economy, social entrepreneurship, and approaches to strengthening sustainability in work related to cultural heritage.
As part of the development process, a series of small and informal co-creation meetings were organised, bringing together people from different backgrounds to exchange ideas, experiences, and perspectives. Participants included an expert in intangible cultural heritage, adult education professionals, and representatives of regional associations. This diversity of experience provided valuable insights and helped ensure that the educational materials reflect the needs, experiences, and challenges of people working in the fields of cultural heritage and education.
The educational materials explore how intangible cultural heritage can contribute to a sustainable future. They introduce concepts such as the circular economy, life-cycle thinking, and social entrepreneurship in an accessible way, demonstrating how these approaches can support individuals and communities involved in safeguarding and promoting cultural heritage. The aim is to show that cultural heritage is not only something to be preserved, but also a resource that can evolve, inspire innovation, and create new opportunities.
The next step in the project is to pilot the educational materials with the project's target groups and gather feedback from participants. Based on the results of this pilot phase, the materials will be revised and further developed to ensure they are as relevant, practical, and useful as possible.
