About NICHE 2

NICHE 2 Project

Over 300,000 people work in the EU cultural heritage sector. Almost 8 million jobs in the EU are indirectly linked to heritage (tourism, interpretation, security). For each direct job, the heritage sector produces 26.7 indirect jobs (for comparison, it’s 4 times more than the ones generated by the automotive sector) However, ICH is often underestimated and definitely underserved by the educational and training systems. Hence the need to act on sustainability for ICH competitiveness and growth NICHE2 is a follow-up application designed on the success of the NICHE project (www.nicheproject.eu) that concluded in Oct 22 with a final evaluation of 92 and the formal recognition “Good Practice” by the IS national agency.

Following the successful completion of the NICHE project, several partners within the consortium are enthusiastic about further developing and improving this initiative.

his new project results also from a formal exchange between the applicant and the IS NA where the latter provided for very precious on how a follow-up initiatives could be planned and structured (i.e., diversify the geographical scale of the project, address new need in compliance with the new green and environmental horizontal priority of the programme) to keep the momentum and give continuity to the positive effects of the ‘original’ NICHE project.

NICHE 2 will develop:

  • a new learning outcomes framework that embeds the training areas of interest from DigComp 2.2 and GreenComp, and that is informed by a thorough transnational analysis of skill gaps in the sector
  • curriculum and training resources on innovative topics for the ICH sector, with specific reference to green and environmental competences
  • a pan-EU Open Educational Resource Platform in open access format that will host the content of the training and will gather together EU and pan-European stakeholders for community development and knowledge transfer
